Huw Bevan.

I’m Huw. I spent six years at Uber, launching cities and then as a general manager on the UK and Ireland leadership team, leading rider operations and product until 2021, and since then as COO, CEO, co-founder and product director in startups. I now work with founder-led companies on product, strategy, operations and AI, and coach founders alongside it.

How I came to do this work.

Huw Bevan

I started in equity sales at Numis, then spent four years at Equinor doing strategy and transformational M&A analysis for the executive team and board. In 2015 I joined Uber as a city launcher opening new markets across the UK and Ireland. I launched Merseyside and grew it from nothing to 30,000 trips a week, ran two teams with millions in P&L, and built a centralised marketplace team.

In 2017 Transport for London refused to renew Uber’s licence. I built the UK Safety team from scratch as its general manager in the months that followed, rebuilding relationships with TfL and the Metropolitan Police, engaging MPs, NGOs and public officials, and helping secure the licence renewal that kept 80,000 drivers in work. I then joined the UK and Ireland leadership team as a general manager, leading rider operations and product with an eight-person senior team. We delivered the first rider product strategy, new product lines including electric vehicles, rentals and in-app transit ticketing, and the Covid response for the whole business. I left in 2021 and, after a sabbatical, wanted to work on scaling high-performing teams throughout organisations. I became COO and then CEO of Gyre, an 18-person psychology-AI startup, where I raised funding, installed analytics and product discipline and moved the go-to-market from direct sales to partners. In 2024 I co-founded Koyo Healthtech, an AI primary care platform in Nigeria, raising £750k with the CEO and taking it through regulatory approval to more than 5,000 users.

From late 2023 to May 2026 I was product and operations director at Gateway 21, an FCA-authorised AI RegTech firm serving crypto exchanges. I set up the operating model from scratch, hired and led the product and engineering team, and owned the compliance product, while revenue grew from £0.1m to more than £3m at margins above 50%. Alongside that I have built products solo for founders, including a breathwork app now going into enterprise trials, and two of my own to keep my knowledge current.

How we work.

The shape of an engagement depends on what the company needs: a few days of advice, a fixed-scope diagnostic, a product build, or a period running a function alongside the founder.

We set up the foundations for high-performing teams, based on the evidence-backed models developed at Gyre and on our executive coaching training. We build product functions, from the first product manager to a team that ships on its own. We deliver operational change, with AI where it is needed. Our strategy work covers new growth opportunities, competitor analysis, decisions made from the company’s own data, and the narrative for a board or investors.

Where a piece of work needs a specialist, we bring in people we have worked with before.

Who this is for.

We work with founder-led startups and scaleups: companies with a product to build, and companies whose operating model has not kept up with their growth. Some need a plan and the evidence for a raise, some need a fractional COO, some need the product built or support with their team development. I also coach founders, on their own or with their leadership teams.

Start with a conversation.

We’d love to speak to you and understand whether we’re the right people to help.
